Kareena Kapoor endorses Kurkure Desi Beats

A while ago, we had informed you of PepsiCo India Holdings having appointed Kareena Kapoor as their new brand ambassador for its snack food products. However, it was unclear as to which sub-brand she would be promoting. Now finally the cat's out of the bag!

Kareena has been brought onboard as the new face for PepsiCo Snack Foods, particularly for its famous product Kurkure. However, Juhi Chawla who has been associated with the brand Kurkure for nearly five years will continue to be the face of the brand. Juhi and Kareena would together look at endorsing the entire portfolio, though the details haven't been chalked out.

Kareena, being the face of the young, Gen-Next India has been roped in to promote 'Kurkure Desi Beats'. In fact the TVC has Kareena playing a character similar to popular story book character 'Cinderella'. She is shown as the maid of the house, while her stepsisters have all the fun. The 'desi' twist in the story is when singer Ila Arun comes to the rescue as her godmother.

She offers Kareena a packet of 'Kurkure Desi Beats' to spice up her life. The Englishmen and her stepsisters are having a boring dance, when 'desi' girl Kareena arrives in Indian attire and adds the much needed spark to the party. The ad film ends with the tagline - 'No Fun, Without Desipann'.One will have to wait and watch if Kareena is able to bring in her charisma to keep Brand Kurkure rocking.

Lamhaa filmmakers issue Bipasha take it or leave it ultimatum!

B-town bold and beautiful couple John Abraham and his arm candy Bipasha Basu seem to be facing the rough weather. While the recession hit bollywood has forced hot bod John to go cool on his film fee, Bips is fighting the blues as she has been issued a ‘take it or leave it’ ultimatum by the filmmakers of ‘Lamhaa’.

It seems that Bips royal rage is going to cost her some big moolah this time. The actress who had quoted a bomb for the film might not be a part of it anymore. According to reports, Bipasha’s walk out act has not gone down to well with the filmmakers who are now looking at other options to replace the hot siren.

Ever since the actress walked out of the film’s shooting in Kashmir, producer Bunty Walia and director Rahul Dholakia have been skeptical about Bips. So much so that the producer director duo are actively considering other ladies to play the lead. And to our shock, it’s the heavyweight actress Vidya Balan who is more likely to replace the sexy Bips.

Even though our sources inform us that Vidya has more or less agreed to the project, the filmmakers plan to hold talks with Bipasha and explain her the terms and conditions for the project. And if Bipasha agrees to those terms she will be a part of the film or else Vidya will be new Kashmiri girl.

Sanjay Dutt penning his autobiography

Fans of Sanjay Dutt can read about his eventful life in his autobiography, The Roar of a Lion, which he is now working on. “Sanjay Dutt’s autobiography is called The Roar of a Lion and it is almost half done,” a well-placed source in the film industry said here on Saturday, revealing the title that was the subject of much guesswork so far. The date for the book’s release has not been decided as Dutt is busy with his film schedules.

He had long been telling friends about his wish to pen an autobiography. When he told his wife Manyata about it, she backed him to the hilt. Meanwhile, Dutt’s filmmaker friend Sanjay Gupta too has commissioned a biography of the actor as a tribute to him.

To be penned by journalist, author and lyricist Neelesh Mishra, it will be in three volumes covering Dutt’s life in three phases.

The first volume will deal with the period when the star went into drug rehabilitation. The second volume will recount his marriage to Richa Sharma, their divorce and her tragic death, while the final volume will be about his legal battles, probation and life beyond all that.

Saying that he will come back in the evening, he had left his house on the morning of Auguest 14. Only after he landed up in the Jail, he called his parents to inform them of his condition.

Soon Ansar Burney, a human rights activist of Pakistan came to India to seek the release of the teenager who got into a quagmire due to his obsession with the Indian film star and not because he committed any unforgivable offence.A petition was also filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh in November requesting to let Nasir return to his home.The young guy is a student of class 10 and is an inhabitant of a place named Dir in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan.

After the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) gave their clearance to release Nasir, he has been handed over to the concerned officials of Pakistan today morning at 11 a.m.

Sada heads to bollywood

Among the south girls making their debut in Bollywood, the spotlight has been on Asin and her Ghajani.
The way the media has been going ga-ga over her has given the impression that she is going to be the next big star in Mumbai’s tinsel town.

But, before Asin makes a splash on Christmas day, the soft-spoken Sada, a one-time hot heroine of Kollywood who has acted in super hits like Jayam and Anniyan, will be seen making her debut in Bollywood. Actually, she was seen in the Hindi dubbing of Shankar’s film Aparachit, through which she got all the offers in Hindi. Sada’s first Hindi release has been titled Khallballi — Fun Unlimited, which will be releasing next Friday.

She is paired with Nikhil Dwivedi in this comedy caper. Says Sada, a Maharashtrian Muslim girl, “Khallballi is a laugh riot, and I’m really happy that I got to debut in a film which has 32 comedians including Chunkey Pandey, Johnny Lever and Rajpal Yadav. The music of the film by Sajid-Wajid is a chartbuster. Seeing the promos of the film, I have got so many offers coming my way.”

The director of the film Ajay Chandok, in a television interview, has said, “Sada has a face that stands out in a crowd and she has a very glamorous and pivotal role in the film.”
Is Sada taking the glam route in Bollywood while in the south, she had a demure and soft image?
Says Sada, “I think I look glamorous in films like Anniyan and Priyamana Sakhi. Of course, in Bollywood, the heroine has to look more glamorous. My friends tell me that I look really smashing in the promos of Khallballi.”

Meanwhile, she has three more Hindi films releasing in the next six months — Click opposite Shreyas Talpade, Love Khichdi with Randeep Hooda and Sirf Romance — Love By Chance with a new hero.

Lara's going to write for herself

"Scriptwriters in Bollywood aren't writing anything in depth for a woman," lovely Lara scoffed, "Invariably the scripts glorify the hero while the heroine is the love interest. And the women-oriented films are half-baked attempts at feminist statements. Both to me are uninspiring."

She's going to produce this to-be-written movie as well, but the actress draws the line at direction. "I'm not ready to direct yet. And I can't wait to start my film. I've done two drafts. And I think it needs one more draft, then I'm ready," she said.

But on her crusade for reversing the male-dominance of movies, Lara is hedging her bets and not making the movie totally female-centric. "It has equal space for the male and female protagonists. It's not one of those feminist, in-your-face women's films. The male lead will have a lot to contribute to my film."

Keeping her chic look in mind, we decided to tone down the accessories. You will notice that none of her dresses have any embroidery or designs either. All her outfits are mainly in satin, chiffon and georgette.

Aishwarya forbids Abhishek to work with Rani!

Top Bollywood star kid Abhishek Bachchan has refused a guest appearance in a Yash Raj film, it has been reported. According to some Indian newspapers, Abhishek Bachchan was approached by Yash Raj head Aditya Chopra for a small but essential role in the Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor starrer.

A source reveal, “Abhishek was offered a small but significant role in the Yash Raj banner project the shooting for which has already begun now. He declined the offer due to Rani Mukherjee.

He now does not work with Rani after his marriage with Aishwarya Rai.He had earlier done a cameo in their Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007) opposite Rani so it was taken for granted that he would say yes”.
